In Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003
Click on start and in the Run option type notepad
and click on ok the copy the bellow given command and paste in the notepad.
net stop wuauserv
cd %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution
ren Download Download.old
net start wuauserv
The open notepad and from the file menu click on
save as then in the save in box click on desktop. Then in the save as type box
click on all files then in the file name box you have to rename .bat then click
on save.
From the file menu click on Exit and from the
desktop double click on Rename.bat then try to install the Windows update again
from the Windows update website or from the Microsoft website. By this way you
can able to install Windows update error code 0X8007064C successfully. Before
some days i have fix my pc by applying this manual steps and i have able to
find the solution. Now you can delete the Rename.bat file from the desktop.
